Clay Township offers arts and crafts events – The Voice
Clay Township Parks and Recreation is offering two town hall arts and crafts events this month: a new quick and easy Easter craft and a yellow brush painting class.
During Deb’s Easy Easter Crafts at 9:30 a.m. on March 26, attendees will craft two bunnies and a sign with the help of artist Deb Green. The program is open to ages 10 and up.
“Deb was originally from our area and later lived near Yale,” said Clay Township Recreation Coordinator Cindy Babisz. “She approached me about eight years ago to start Art in the Park during Music in the Park. It was an immediate success and continues every year. A perfect complement. It’s free and sponsors help with supplies.
Babisz said he learned that Green offers many arts and crafts projects, including wreath and porch sign programs.
“All are welcomed,” she said.
She said the Department of Parks and Recreation has started looking at options for 2022, and now that Green lives locally, Clay Township will be able to accommodate more classes.
“Deb knows the importance and benefits of art and loves to share,” Babisz said. “It also includes recycling components in many of its programs.”
The cost of the program is $30. Pre-registration is required.
Yellow brush painting lessons
Yellow Brush Painting Class: The Lambs will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on March 19. The course was previously scheduled for March 5, but the date has been changed.
During the course, instructor Jane Weis will show participants “how fun it can be to create a painting,” reads a recent press release.
Weis is the owner, artist and instructor of Yellow Brush Art Studio and Yellow Brush Paint-in Parties. The studio offers art classes for teenagers and adults and specializes in oil and acrylic painting. She also teaches in the canton of Ira.
Babisz chose the name Yellow Brush Paint-In Class to give Weis ownership and to remind attendees that Weis has an independent studio they can visit and “take their art education to a new level.”
The size of the painting will be an 11 inch by 14 inch canvas. Weis will provide the canvas, paint, palettes and brushes.
The cost of the course is $35 per person. Pre-registration is required.
Registration for both programs can be completed at township offices. Payment can also be deposited in the drop box or mailed to the township with the class on the memo line of the check.
Clay Town Hall is located at 4710 Pointe Tremble Road. For more information, contact Babisz at 810-794-9320 or [email protected]
