Morpheus8, the popular aesthetic laser treatment loved by Kim Kardashian, now has a version for the vagina
Facials come in different forms. At one end there are the relaxing cleansing massages and at the other there are Morpheus8. The treatment, which uses microneedling as well as fractionated radiofrequency energy, has been recognized for its ability to totally smooth, firm and reshape the skin, combating uneven texture, wrinkles, sagging and scarring in just a few sessions. .
Because of this, it has a host of celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, who has posted about the treatment on her Instagram page. “This is a game changer!!! I did laser Morpheus to tighten my stomach,” she wrote.
It’s also known to be quite painful (even Kim noted, “I think it’s my favorite laser but it’s painful lol but worth it!”), so when the company announced a version designed for the vagina, Morpheus8 V, part of a revolutionary female wellness treatment regimen called Empower RF, we collectively grimaced and quickly crossed our legs.
While you might be wondering why anyone would want to pursue smoother vaginal skin, the new treatment promises much, much more than that and is arguably worth a few minutes of discomfort (hey, no pain, no gain, is not it ?).
Morpheus8 V is less of a cosmetic procedure and more geared towards solving medical issues that may arise as a result of childbirth, menopause, or general poor health. “It’s a new cutting-edge technology for the vagina,” says Dr. Angela Rai, female wellness expert and founder of The medical lounge. “Morpheus8 V can help with many conditions including vaginal wall laxity, vaginal dryness, pelvic floor muscle weakness, incontinence, lichen sclerosis of sexual functioning. It has also been shown to it helps fight recurring vaginal infections such as candida.”
So how does it work? Similar to the face and body version, Morpheus8 V uses effective bipolar radio frequency technology with micro pins to stimulate cell turnover and stimulate collagen and elastin production. “Combined, this tightens vaginal skin, rejuvenates the vaginal lining and improves function,” says Dr. Rai. “It’s a safe and effective procedure with minimal risks, downtime, or side effects, and it’s been cleared by the FDA and declared suitable for all skin types.”
Depending on the individual patient, Dr. Rai suggested combining Morpheus8 V with the other non-surgical advancements in the Empower RF portfolio, each designed to improve vaginal health. The first is V Tone, a gentle, FDA-cleared intravaginal electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) that rehabilitates weak pelvic floor muscles. Next is Forma V, which uses deep radiofrequency heating internally and externally to reshape tissue.
Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes, during which the practitioner will target problem areas inside and outside the vagina. And on the pain side? “The treatment is not as painful as it looks,” says Dr. Rai. “The walls of the vagina don’t feel as much pain as other areas of the body (designed for childbirth!), and most patients report feeling a sensation but nothing compared to what they thought it might be. Well, that’s a relief.
