The Crustaceancore Home trend is the latest sea-inspired aesthetic you should know about, according to Etsy

Seaside hasn’t exactly seen a lack of popularity in past summers, but in 2022 it’s becoming more popular than ever. Earlier this year, the “coastal grandma” aesthetic exploded onto the scene, with people everywhere hooked on her laid-back Nancy Meyers-inspired elements. Apparently, however, that’s just not enough. On the heels of this beach-centric movement, the “crustaceancore” trend – focused on sea creatures – officially enters the scene.

It is according to Etsy online marketplace, which has recently seen a resurgence of interest on its site for all kinds of shellfish-related decorations. According to the brand, there was a 122% increase in searches for lobster footprints, a 31% increase in searches for oyster art, and a 5% increase in searches for sea creature or sea creature items. crustaceans in the last three months (compared to the same time the previous year). And while the summer season itself may spur this, Etsy trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson thinks there’s another reason behind this burgeoning trend.

“The shellfish trend perfectly complements a variety of styles — like minimalism, maximalism, or anything in between — making it easy to incorporate into any space,” Johnson said. “Many are also drawn to its playful and whimsical nature, as buyers increasingly seek to express their personality through their home decor.”

Whatever your personal reason for loving the look, there’s no better time to embrace this trend than the depths of summer. So start buying it now with some of TZR’s favorite shellfish discoveries coming soon.
